The BNP Paribas Open, often referred to as the "fifth Grand Slam," is a must-see event for tennis enthusiasts. Held annually at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, California, this tournament attracts the world’s top male and female players and offers fans an unforgettable experience. Here’s a guide to planning your trip to the BNP Paribas Open.

Step 1: Choose Your Dates

The BNP Paribas Open typically takes place over two weeks in March, with the exact dates varying slightly each year. The event is divided into the early rounds (Week 1) and the later rounds (Week 2). Early rounds offer more matches and opportunities to see players up close, while the later rounds feature later round matches (quarterfinals, semifinals, finals) typically with top-seeded and emerging players. I personally prefer attending earlier rounds in week 1 when I can see more players. Decide which experience suits your preferences and schedule.

Step 2: Secure Your Tickets

Tickets for the BNP Paribas Open can be purchased directly from the tournament’s official website, https://bnpparibasopen.com/tickets

Options include:

  • Single-session tickets: Ideal for those looking to attend specific days.

  • Multi-day packages: Great for extended stays.

  • Full tournament packages: Perfect for die-hard fans.

Upgraded experiences, such as box seats or access to hospitality areas, are also available for a premium.

The Indian Wells Tennis Garden has 3 main stadiums and 20 other courts, including 9 match courts and 6 practice courts.

  • Stadium 1: Stadium 1 tickets are reserved seating. During the day, 3 matches are scheduled starting at 11 am, and at night, 2 matches are scheduled starting at 6 pm. Stadium 1 tickets also give you access to the non-reserved seating sections for all matches in play on that day.

  • Grounds Pass: Grounds pass tickets give you full day’s access to any court that is in play (including stadiums 2 and 3) in the non-reserved seating areas as well as any practice court or on-site activity. However, you will have no access to Stadium 1 during the day or evening.

Step 3: Book Your Accommodation

Indian Wells and the surrounding Coachella Valley offer a range of lodging options to suit all budgets. Popular choices include:

  • Luxury resorts: Such as the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells or La Quinta Resort & Club.

  • Mid-range hotels: Chains like Marriott, Hilton, and Best Western provide comfort and convenience.
